million dollar idea

Don’t steal this, you guys.  It’s mine.

I was looking at my race schedule the other day, really mad at the fact that I have to run all over the city in the coming weeks to pick up packets for various races.  So I got to thinking… why isn’t there a service that would do it for you?

I’m not talking about the postal service, and the crazy cost of having your packet mailed.  I’m talking about hiring a runner valet.

You’d pay a flat fee (per race, per month, or per year), and someone would do all of that logistical nonsense for you.  They’d get your packet and deliver it to your house.  Or to the race, when you get there.  Then you wouldn’t have to worry about all of this shit.  And the races that make you go to the expo?  They would find a way around that, cut through that red tape so that you could continue sitting on your sofa drinking beer and watching the NFL like a normal person.

Personally, I’d rather pay someone to get this crap for me than have to take the train or drive or anything involving effort and unnecessary spending on my part.  I still want to race!  It’s all become so complicated.

What do you think?  If valet was an option, would you do it?

  1. I bet people would pay for this. The running industry is so huge.

You should explore this, for real!

Either that, or races just need to get smaller!

  2. I don’t think I would want to pay the fees for a person to pick up just my stuff, but would like to organize it with a group, so it’s less costly, overall. People in our club do this now, when races allow it! And this is one reason I don’t race in the city much – annoying to go get the packets sometime.

  4. I’d pay for it! I actually opted (I don’t remember if I had to pay) for the Wisconsin Marathon to mail me my packet last year. It worked wonderfully… but then I had to remember to bring it with me! Oops!
